EV charger pedestals and cable management in recycled PolyAl
Why charge-point operators are switching pedestal housings, ground anchors and cable floor protectors to PolyAl pellets.

The EV charging build-out is creating a fast-growing market for non-conductive, weather-resistant pedestal housings, ground-anchor blocks and cable floor protectors. Most current product is virgin polypropylene or fibreglass-reinforced plastic. PolyAl is gaining share for its lower carbon, recycled-content credentials and cost.
Pedestal housings
Injection-moulded clamshells in PolyAl protect the AC/DC contactor module from rain, UV, vandalism and seasonal temperature swings.
- Wall thickness 4–6 mm
- IP54 rating with EPDM gasket
- Lockable maintenance hatch
- Native charcoal finish (or branded with operator masterbatch)
- Service life 15+ years
Ground anchors and ballast
For portable or pop-up chargers, rotomoulded PolyAl ballast blocks (250–400 kg, water- or sand-fillable) provide stability without permanent foundations.
Cable floor protectors
Extruded PolyAl ramps with internal cable channels protect 32 A and DC fast-charge cables on parking surfaces during operation. Yellow/black warning stripe co-extruded.
Compliance
- IEC 61851 EV charging system standards (housings: enclosure protection class)
- IEC 60529 (IP rating)
- IEC 60112 CTI tracking index for plastic enclosures: PolyAl achieves > 600 V (suitable)
- EN 50620 (EV charging cables — informational, cable management uses)
Why it matters
EV charging is a poster industry for sustainability claims; charge-point operators are under pressure from cities, fleet customers and ESG investors to demonstrate end-to-end recycled content. Switching the visible pedestal housing — what every driver sees — to ISCC PLUS certified recycled PolyAl is a high-impact, low-friction win.
